'IGNORE THE IDEAL'
My Final Major Project ‘Ignore the Ideal’ explores the idea of rebelling against toxic traits of the fashion industry and the issues that have been caused for example the heroin chic movement and the problems it caused to maintain unhealthy body ideals that implemented health problems like anorexia. I therefore looked at opposing this by investigating body confidence and going against society’s idea of the ‘ideal look’. This led me to look at aspects of feminism for example punk feminism of the 1970s which helped to fuel ideas and imagery to help add depth within my concept. I have also developed a lot of inspiration from the anti-fashion movement and how society influences the movement and how society influences the movement by creating new luxury from stereotypical low culture ideals. This linked to the idea of rebelling against trends to create a slow fashion approach to go against fast fashion. This helped to inspire new ways of wearing garments with that create a new trend-less collection.
